both a backdated friends only post and a screened post - you may friends lock these after acceptance
at least two update/writing examples - media updates will not count
we recommend enabling pms under your settings in case we need to get ahold of you for whatever reason.
if you are rejected it is because we do not feel you would integrate with the community easily, which is not necessarily a fault of yours. if your application is deleted due to missing items, you will be notified beforehand!

intros
after you are added, you have one week to post an intro, and one week after it's posted to reply to most of the comments. intros can be either a standard intro of your choosing in gab, or a lyrics post in musical.

updating
members are required to update their journals once every calendar month on a date of their choosing and acceptable updates are:
written updates, on any topic of your choice, consisting of at least 200 words or more (includes image hover text, survey questions, etc.)
writing prompts, found at themes, in lieu of a traditional update and does not need to meet the 200 word minimum.
update passes, which are awarded for interacting in comments and posting on the friends page. once you're added, you can see how our points system works by going here! you may use a pass at any time (except for your first update or when reapplying) and they cannot be used twice in a row.
opt outs, which are earned by posting at least twice on the friends page and answering all comments on one post, and at least half on the other.
updates must be posted by 11:59pm est on the last day of the month in order to avoid removal. if you are added on or after the 15th of the month, you would only need to intro and reply to your comments and would need a proper update in the following month.

activity
aside from updating your journal, we require our members to show activity outside of their storylines & friends circle. to avoid being overridden, members must:
update your friends list at least once every two weeks
respond to comments you receive on any post within one week
post at least once in the subcommunities OR comment 15 different posts on the fp every 3 weeks - comments must be submitted to us at trackr.
it should go without saying that your activity should not depend upon your storyline or ic relationships. this is a large community whose purpose is to provide social interaction among members. showing activity only to your storyline partner and/or closed friend groups should be reserved for gpsls.

absences
we understand that sometimes real life throws us obstacles that we can't plan around, so we do offer extensions and hiatuses.
extensions give you a maximum of up to seven days from the last day of the month. hiatuses give you a maximum of up to four weeks from your last update and are similar to a leave of absence, meaning you should not be showing any activity during your hiatus. hiatuses (lasting longer than two weeks) that are requested within 48 hours of your due date will not be approved. if either of these move your update into the next month, you would still be expected to update (a second time, technically) for that month.
approval for either will depend upon your friends page activity. exceptions can always be made, we just ask that you communicate with us when this needs to happen, and you may be as vague as possible.

overrides
before you are able to override, we ask that you check with us via pm or the dropbox to verify the person you are trying to override doesn't have an extension, hiatus, or communicated with us about slow activity due to real life reasons. members may be overridden based on the following:
their friends list is outdated by two weeks or more
more than half of their comments have gone unanswered for a week or more on their last post
they have shown zero friends page activity for three weeks, either commenting or posting
if an override is approved, the challenger has 24 hours to apply! if the person in question has not fixed the issue, you can ask to override again.

as mods, we want to be as transparent with our members as possible. there are days we will be busy and unable to answer questions, adds may get delayed to unexpected issues, and there may be times we want to enjoy our own roles within the community and don't want to spend a lot of time doing mod work.
our job as mods is to do adds, removals, and make sure everyone has a safe space to play. we are not here to control other members and how they act, play as a therapist to interpret members' actions or thoughts, nor act as a referee whenever a disagreement happens. this community is intended for others to escape whatever is going on in their real life and as long as they are following the rules, we are not going to interfere. if you cannot resolve issues with an adult conversation, please feel free to block whoever you must to protect your mental space.

issues and when to report them
there is a zero tolerance policy when it comes to any kind of discrimination or harassment. the point of this hobby is for people to escape their real lives and the stresses that come along with it, and our job as mods is to make sure we are giving them the space to do that.
harassment: behavior towards a person that causes mental or emotional suffering, which includes repeated unwanted contacts without a reasonable purpose, insults, threats, ridicule or mockery, and offensive language
a blurry argument about a storyline ending is not harassment unless it includes any of the above, in which case blocking the person should be the end of it. if things persist, then please bring the appropriate evidence to us so that we can handle the issue further. we are aware that ic/ooc mix with regard to friendships, which is why we cannot moderate certain issues. if blocking and ban_set'ing someone from your journal is not enough, let us know and we will step in.
despite the roleplay world including a very small fraction of the world's minorities, we expect all of our members to show respect to everyone regardless of their own personal beliefs outside of the game. use this website as a reference to the types of discrimination we do not want to see.
beyond this, we also ask that members keep in mind triggering topics of discussion and appropriately indicate trigger warnings both on the fp and in private messages. this should be standard practice by now since we all exist in an online space, but it is worth repeating.
we will not take on the added responsibility of moderating a celebrity's real life decisions just because someone chose to play them here. if you have concerns or questions regarding why someone chose to play a specific celebrity, you are encouraged to open up a civilized dialogue with that player while keeping in mind that they do not owe you any explanation.
any abuse or harassment shown towards us as mods will be met with a journal ban, and if things escalate, we will deal with it appropriately at that time. we have roles within the community as well and would like to enjoy our time here too!
